Jim Tranquada is director of communications for Occidental College in Los Angeles. He is also a ukulele historian and enthusiast. Jim co-wrote, with John King, The ‘Ukulele: A History published by the University of Hawaii Press.

Jim is the great grandson of Augusto Dias (1842-1915) who was one of the pioneers of the ukulele.
